Merkel: There are areas in Germany where it is not safe to go
Angela Merkel’s statement shocked the officials, AP reports, adding that its comment was inconsistent with the current denial of the authorities that there are places in Germany where the police can not go.
Merkel said in an interview with German television nTV that she advocates zero tolerance of crime and that she has to fight the creation of problematic areas, but she did not want to say which area she really thinks.
“There are such areas and somebody has to call them the right name and do something about that,” she said.
Spokeswoman Angela Merkel, Stephen Zaybert, also did not want to answer what areas she was doing. “Chancellor’s words speak for themselves,” Saubert said.
